MSI has today announced the new Optix MAG301, a 30-inch WFHD gaming monitor. It’s a 30-inch curved display with a 200Hz refresh rate running at a resolution of 2560×1080.
The new monitor from MSI operates on a VA panel with a 21:9 aspect ratio as opposed to a standard 16:9 and offers a 1ms response time.
At this time of writing it’s unknown if this 1ms if GtG or MPRT (see Pixel Response FAQ), since these are two different pixel response benchmark. Since this is a VA panel, this may mean that this panel has a strobe-backlight motion blur reduction mode since that is the easiest way to achieve 1ms response time with a VA panel.
The monitor comes equipped with variable refresh rate in AMD FreeSync, has tilt, swivel, and height adjustment, and also features a number of MSI’s own gaming technology additions.
The Night Vision software included with the monitor helps to amplify details in dark areas of the screen and since the monitor is HDR ready, it offers better colours and contrast too. The official site also makes mention of the connections on the monitor, with 3 different USB ports, two HDMI ports and a DisplayPort.
